Discernment Of The Times
Matthew 24:32-51
I. DISCERNING THE LESSON OF THE FIG TREE (vv. 32-34).
+ If you notice in the above verses of Matthew 24 Jesus only refers to the leaves, and no fruit.
+ It could be that Jesus is referring to the realization of a renewed State of Israel.
II. DISCERNING THE POWER, ETERNITY, AND IMMUTABILITY OF GOD’S WORD (v. 35).
+ Verse 35 assures us of the power of the Word of God.
+ It is powerful.
1. It is unchanging.
2. It is inerrant.
3. It is infallible.
4, It is eternal.
III. DISCERNING THE SIGNS OF THE CULTURE AND TIMES (vv. 36-44).
+ Jesus gives us some signs to look for before that great and notable day of the Lord comes.
+ Everyone was going about life without much thought and little to no thought of God.
IV. DISCERNING THE ACTIONS AND ATTITUDES OF OUR OWN LIVES (vv. 45-51).
+ Here are words of direction, and correction, and comfort.
+ It is the heart that has grown cold to the words of the second coming of Christ when the life gets hard, the heart grows cold.
+ Only the unbelieving could turn away from the truth of the return of our Lord, and the setting up of His kingdom on earth.
