Today’s Reading: 1 Samuel 15 – 16
“And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent. And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou. And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for He is not a man, that He should repent.” 1 Samuel 15:27-29 (KJV)
This passage is dealing with the fall of king Saul. He had been arrogantly disobedient to the LORD’S commandment, and excusing his actions by blaming the people.
This passage of scripture shows us the immutability of God (His character that is never changing). He is the Strength and glory of Israel. He is the Strength and Glory of all who follow Him through Christ Jesus.
A couple of verses of Scripture to consider Titus 1:2; Romans 11:29.
