Today’s Reading: 1 Chronicles 27 – 29
“Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be Thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Thine; Thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and Thou art exalted as head above all.” 1 Chronicles 29:10-11 (KJV)
The exiles from Babylon would have read this and known; remembered the glory of the kingdom under David’s rule. They would also have been reminded who was the Head above all.
All things are God’s. All things come from Him. Even in the Model Prayer recorded in Matthews Gospel Jesus gives us some of these words;
“For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13
