The Calling

For the month of September I will be preaching in the prophecy of Jeremiah.  Every Sunday morning and evening we will be looking at the life, work, and ministry of this “Weeping Prophet”.

Why is he sometimes called the “Weeping Prophet”?  Is there a need for more weeping; from Christians in the day which we live?  One verse that comes to my mind to start of the day is Jeremiah 9:1

“Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people.”

He wept for his people who were still practicing religion, but not loving God or His word.  That is a great cause for weeping.
