Loyalty of Heart

Reading today from 1 Kings 14 – 15…

“…Nevertheless Asa’s heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.” 1 Kings 15:14 b  (KJB)

Asa was the grandson of Rehoboam, and great grandson of Solomon. Abijam followed Rehoboam as the king of Judah, but he certainly was not a godly king; neither was Rehoboam, because the Scripture says that they were not loyal to the LORD as was David.

We must understand that the word “Perfect” in the text above does not mean without sin.  It means “Loyal”.  Loyal of heart to the ways of the LORD, and endeavoring to be right with God and live as He expects one to live.

Asa had cleaned house in Judah.  He abolished all idols, and ridded the country of all perverts.  He was really far from perfect, but he is recognized by GOD as faithful, and loyal to Him.

The only way we can receive the decree of God of loyalty is by His decree.  It is a grace decree.  Our faith must be in the finished work of Christ on Calvary’s cross, His burial, and bodily resurrection.  Believing Him, and that His work, and His only is sufficient to save us from our sins and transgressions.  When we do that God gives us His Holy Spirit to teach us, lead us, convict us, comfort us, and empower us to live for Him.

Faithful, Loyal will those two words be used by God of me?  How about you?
