Saturday November 11 is Veteran’s Day. This morning while in my car, and listening to KWFC radio station, a Christian station, they played a song which was a ballad of “The Four Chaplains”. I had never heard it, but it was based on a true story of a ship at sea in World War 2, and a German Submarine sank this USA ship. Life vest were being handed out to the sailors as the ship was going down, the chaplains had theirs already on, they ran out of vests, but each chaplain took theirs off, to pass on to the next four men in line.
The men were a Catholic priest, 2 Protestant ministers, and a Jewish Rabbi. After the men were in the water the others who lived reported that they heard the four chaplains praying, and saw them linked arm in arm as they perished going under the water.
This is my tribute to the veterans of all our wars. To those of you who are home; THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. May God richly bless you.
