In The Hands Of The Living God
Hebrews 10:26-31
INTRODUCTION –
1. What happens when there is willful rejection of the gift of Jesus Christ after having knowledge of it?
2. Is there any other sacrifice for sin?
3. What happened to those who rejected/despised the law of Moses?
4. To whom does wrath and vengeance belong?
I. WILLFUL REJECTION OF JESUS CHRIST IS WILLFUL SIN (v. 26).
II. THERE IS ONLY ONE SACRIFICE FOR SIN (v. 26).
III. THE HOLY, RIGHTEOUS, AND JUST CHARACTER REQUIRES FIERY JUDGMENT OF SIN (v.27).
IV. WE FIND THAT THE NEW TESTAMENT, UNDER THE BLOOD OF CHRIST, IS NO LESS HOLY, RIGHTEOUS AND JUST THAN IS THE LAW OF MOSES (vv. 28-31).
Application –
i. When the death, burial and resurrection have been heard and understood; it is willful sin to reject this gift of grace.
ii. Self righteous acts/works, or good thoughts of one’s self will not redeem one’s soul from the wrath of the justice of God.
iii. God will take vengeance on all those who have refused His grace, by despising His law and His Son.
iv. Don’t be of those who have refused, despised, the truth of God; be of those who “believe to the saving of the soul” (v. 39).
