I Am Ready…

Acts 21:13

1.  Paul was being warned about the events that would happen if or when he went to Jerusalem.
2.  Paul had a burden for his people Israel and for them to know their Messiah.
3.  No matter what the price he would need to pay he would go to Jerusalem.
4.  Remember Paul is the one who wrote, “I die daily” (1 Cor. 15:31), and “I am crucified with Christ” (Gal. 2:20).

I.  BEING READY TO SERVE THE LORD WHAT EVER THE SITUATION OR CIRCUMSTANCES MAY BE.

II.  BEING BOUND TO THE LORD CAN LEAD TO THE BONDAGE OF ROPES, PRISON, OR DEATH.

III.  WE MUST REALIZE THAT WE ARE “BOUGHT WITH A PRICE” (1 Cor. 6:20) WE ARE NOT OUR OWN BUT WE ARE HIS.

IV. BEING READY TO GO TO THOSE WHO MAY BE RELIGIOUS BUT LOST.

V.  READY TO GO IN THE NAME OF THE ONE WHO DIED FOR US.

Application –
i.  Continue growing in your love for the Lord through prayer, the word and the Spirit; growing in passion and compassion for the lost.
ii.  Realize that obedience to the Lord is the life of the child of God through Christ Jesus.
iii.  Having a passsion and compassion for the lost you will not be hindered by the future outcome.
iv.  Ready to go as the Lord may lead; and in His precious, holy name.

050811 The LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness

“For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.  And the king said unto his servants, ‘Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel? And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.'”  2 Samuel 3:37-39 (KJV)

050111 For the LORD will not forsake His people…

…For His great name’s sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you His people.  Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:  only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things He hath done for you.  But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king.”  1 Samuel 12:22-25 (KJV)

Prayer Of The Month – 050111

“RESH. Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget Thy law.  Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to Thy word.  Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not Thy statutes.  Great are Thy tender mercies, O LORD: quicken me according to Thy judgments.  Many are my persecutors and mine enemies; yet do I not decline from Thy testimonies.  I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not Thy word.  Consider how I love Thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to Thy lovingkindness.  Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of Thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”  Psalm 119:153-160 (KJV)

JESUS SPEAKS FROM THE CROSS…

…Trusting the Father With His Very Being

Luke 23:46

THE SEVEN SAYINGS…
1.  “Father forgive them; for they know not what they do.”  (Luke 23:33-34).
2.  “Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).
3.  “Woman, behold thy son… Behold thy mother” (John 19:26-27).
4.  “My God, My God; why hast Thou forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46;  Mark15:34).
5.  “I thirst” (John 19:28).
6.  “It is finished” (John 19:30).
(7.  “Into Thy hands I commend My spirit” (Luke 23:46).

I.  THE FELLOWSHIP BETWEEN FATHER AND SON IS RENEWED.

II.  WITH THESE WORDS FROM THE CROSS JESUS IS LOOKING WITH JOY TOWARD THE GLORY (Heb. 12:2)

III.  LATER WE FIND JESUS IS GONE FROM THE TOMB IN WHICH HE WAS BURIED (Luke 24:6-7).

IV.  HE CALLS ON US TO TRUST THE FATHER JUST AS HE HAS (Psalm 37:3-5; Luke 24:44-48).

Application –
i.  Fellowship that is broken with God can be restored because of the gift of Jesus Christ;
ii.  We can with joy look to the glory we shall have with Jesus in eternity;
iii.  The evidence of Jesus in our lives is that of a changed life;
iv.  Trust God, our Father, every day through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

Resurrection Day 2011

Every Sunday throughout each year Christians remember the death, burial and resurrection or our Lord.  Why?  Because “He is risen.”  No religion can make the claim that the one they worship has risen.  Buddha is still in his tomb.  Mohammed is still in his grave; and it is so of every religious leader and founder who has ever live.

Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, is alive and He lives forever more.  That is why true Christianity is not a religion, but a living relationship with the One who came down to us, gave His life for us.  He said, “No one takes My life from Me.  I lay it down Myself” (John 10:17-18).   and He took it up again, by raising from the dead; conquering the power and sting of sin and death.

At Carr Lane Baptist Church we pray that you have a living relationship with the Living Lord.  If not call on His name in repentance, believe Him and you will live with Him forever.  That is what Resurrection Day is all about.  Life fulfilled and Life eternal.

Have a blessed and great Resurrection Day by looking to Jesus.

042411 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem…

…Not knowing the things that shall befall me there: save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.  But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.  And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.  Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.  For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.”  Acts 20:22-27 (KJV)

041711 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife…

and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.  And the women said unto Naomi, ‘Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.   And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.’   And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.  And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, ‘There is a son born to Naomi;’ and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.”  Ruth 4:13-17 (KJV)

JESUS SPEAKS FROM THE CROSS…

…Of Forgiveness and Paradise

Luke 23:33-34, 39-43

SEVEN MESSAGES FROM THE CROSS…
7.  “Into Thy hands I commend My spirit” (Luke 23:46).

Looking at only two of the messages of Christ from the cross in this message;

I.  JESUS PRAYS FOR FORGIVENESS FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE INVOLVED IN THE CRUCIFIXION (Luke 23:33-34;  Matthew 6:14-15; 27:44).

II.  THE PEOPLE JESUS PRAYED FOR ARE NOT WORTHY OF FORGIVENESS (Romans 3:23; Jeremiah 17:9).

III.  THE PRAYER OF JESUS WAS ANSWERED THAT DAY (Luke 23:43;  John 17:24).

IV.  JESUS SPEAKS WORDS OF ASSURANCE AND PEACE TO A DYING THEIF (Luke 23:39-43).

Application –
i.  Without the cross of Jesus Christ there would be no forgiveness for sin;
ii.  We must all realize that without Christ within us we are wretched, miserable, poor and blind; full of evil;
iii.  We can rest assured that the Father heard the prayer of Jesus that day; that all the sin debt of humanity was paid in full;
iv.  To those who know they are condemned and dying Jesus gives eternal life for those who see who He is;
v.  In Jesus Christ alone is there paradise.

041011 The Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal…

“And the Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, ‘I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break My covenant with you.  And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed My voice: why have ye done this?  Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.’  And it came to pass, when the Angel of the LORD spake these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.  And they called the name of that place Bochim: and they sacrificed there unto the LORD.”  Judges 2:1-5 (KJV)

He Riseth From Supper

John 13:4-5

1.  The time is the evening before the trial and death of our Lord;
2.  Jesus and the disciples have eaten the Passover meal; as well as instituting the Lord’s Supper;
3.  Following the supper Jesus rose up, laid aside His outer garments, and began to serve the disciples;
4.  This is a time when GOD stooped to serve humanity.

I.  IN THIS ACTION OF JESUS DEMONSTRATES A PICTURE OF HIS DEPARTURE FROM HEAVEN (v. 4;  Philippians 2:7).

II.  HE LEFT HEAVEN’S SUPPER AND CAME DOWN.

III.  HE LAID ASIDE THE DEITY AND POSITION OF HEAVEN AND CAME DOWN.

IV.  HE TOOK UPON HIMSELF THE FORM OF A SERVANT, AND GIRDED HIMSELF.

Application –
i.  By the demonstration of Jesus we too can demonstrate the love of Christ to a lost world.
ii.  Just as Jesus lovingly departed from His heavenly throne; we too can stoop to serve one another and others when we are given opportunity, and at every opportunity.
iii.  Knowing who we are in Christ Jesus gives us freedom without fear of losing what is ours through Christ Jesus.
iv.  We must gird ourselves with the towel and basin of service to show a world in darkness the light of Jesus Christ.

040311 …There stood a Man over against him with His sword drawn in His hand…

“And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a Man over against him with His sword drawn in His hand: and Joshua went unto Him, and said unto Him, ‘Art Thou for us, or for our adversaries?’  And He said, ‘Nay; but as Captain of the host of the LORD am I now come.’  And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto Him, ‘What saith my Lord unto His servant?  And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, ‘Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy.’ And Joshua did so.”  Joshua 5:13-15 (KJV)
