The Pharisees had asked Jesus about the “kingdom of God” when it was going to come.  Jesus answered them in one way saying, “The kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21).  He then, proceeds to tell them what the days will be like when the Son of Man comes.

These are questions which are pertinent to 2015 as well.  Yet, there are so many who call themselves “Christian”, and a lost, condemned, walking in darkness world who have little to no concern for the kingdom of God, or when Jesus might be coming again.  We better wake up.

Jesus speaking to them first of the judgment during the time of Noah, then, reminds them of Lot,

“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife.” Luke 17:28-32 (KJV)

Lot and his family were visited by two angels (Genesis 19:1) who had visited Abraham prior to this visit; along with the LORD (Genesis 18 -19).  After trying to convince their sons in laws of the impending judgment about to fall on the city; and failing to do so; Lot, his wife and two daughters are practically dragged from the city, warned not to look back (Genesis 19:17) thus the warning Jesus gives, “Remember Lot’s wife”.

The Christian can learn much by remembering Lot and His wife. For more  concerning Lot check out the following links: Backsliding Lot; Lot’s Drunkenness.

Lot’s wife was more concerned with what she had left behind, than obeying God; and she became in her death what she never was in life (Genesis 19:26).  Remember Lot’s wife, and turn to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour today.  He is your only Deliverer.
