Security companies seem to be flourishing in today’s world. A lot of people are worried about the security of their businesses or homes, and even their automobiles. We all know there are many unscrupulous people who care not for the worth of another man’s or woman’s labors. I mean we work hard for what we have; and then some thief comes along and takes what belongs to us. It is a life changing event to have someone break into your car or home, and can cause much fear. Thus, the need for security.
Then, there is much talk of “Financial security”. Do you have enough saved for retirement? Do you have a nest egg set aside for emergencies? These are only things for our thoughts today. Things which we think about; fret about. I want to speak to you today of a security system that is out of this world.
Hear these most securing words ever spoken…
“Then came the Jews round about Him, and said unto Him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If Thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of My sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” John 10:24-30 (KJV)
Notice the words of Jesus; they have to do with eternity; heaven; and our security in Him. He says first of all, speaking of His sheep “They hear My voice”, and “I know them”, and “They follow Me”.
Secondly, Jesus says, “I give unto them eternal life”, and “They shall never perish”, and “Neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand”.
Then, in the third place Jesus doubles down on the security by telling us “My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand.”
In Isaiah 49:16 God speaking through the prophet Isaiah says, “I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands…” This is applicable to the follower of Christ today. There is no greater security than that of being in the hands; first of the Son of God, God the Son; and His paying the price for our salvation; then in the hands of the Father who doubly secures our eternal salvation.
Put your life, through faith, into the hands of the Father and the Son. Jesus goes on and says, “I and My Father are one”.
