“Then He said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke Me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. Therefore will I also deal in fury: Mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in Mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.” Ezekiel 8:17-18 (KJV)
We hear all the time that “God is love”. Everybody loves that about God. Even judgment of His people is an act of love; but no one likes that thought.
Most of the time when I share a “Positive” Scripture or a comforting, uplifting one; there will always be more visitors or hits on this site. Because no body likes to hear about God’s judgment or His anger against our sins.
In the verses above we have the people who called themselves “God’s people” actually “Thumbing their nose” at God – this was the LORD’S accusation to Ezekiel of them. Thumbing their nose in contempt and mockery. That was the reason for their captivity. They had taken the words of the LORD in contempt.
It was the wrath, the anger of our GOD who slew His own Son on Calvary’s cross; for our sins (John 3:16); yet it was His greatest act of love for all mankind; for all who will call on the name of the Lord.
I like that about God; and trust Him for it. How about you?
