Judgment, Death, and Dying

“Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.” Ezekiel 18:30-32 (KJV)

We have all heard it said that there are two things certain in life, “Death and taxes”.  Death is certain and sure to come.  There has only been two people who have escaped death – they were taken up alive by God Himself (Genesis 5:21-24, Hebrews 11:5; 2 Kings 2:9-11).

The Lord GOD does not receive pleasure in the death of a wicked man or woman.  It does not pleasure Him to judge our evil.  He desires that you get a new heart and new spirit that we might live.

There is a “Death” which pleases the LORD, and that is in the death of His saints…

“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15

We are declared “Saints” by God when we come to Him through the cross of His only begotten son, “…That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  In our death, we live, and God is pleased, honored and glorified.
