For Your Own Sake, LORD

“O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for Thine own sake, O my God: for Thy city and Thy people are called by Thy name.” Daniel 9:19 (KJV)

These are the final words of Daniel’s prayer of sorrow, and repentance for himself, his people and the city of Jerusalem.

Is there any sorrow, grief or pain for sin today?  In my view; it does not seem so.  However, there can be no repentance, thus no forgiveness without there being true sorrow over our sins.

My prayer today is, “O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for Thine own sake, O my God: for Thy city and Thy people are called by Thy name.” Daniel 9:19 (KJV)

Make that prayer your own today; first by seeing you have sinned, believing that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, carried them away in His burial, and was raised again to life, calling on His name.
