…In the Faith

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him: rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7 (KJV)

As I look at the verse and hear what the Lord says through it I am also reminded of the First Psalm, and its use of the “Tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season” (Psalm 1:3).

In Christ Jesus our Lord we are to walk in Him.  That means contrary to the world and sin.

The word “Rooted” above means settled in Christ, receiving His nourishment from the water of the word of God, and His Spirit, and being made strong, and made firm in faith.

The “Faith” we are to have is not in faith itself; but in God, His word which never fails, is always faithful to completion of what He says; believing God no matter what the trials of life may bring.  “Faith is the substance…”, and “Faith… is the evidence…”  (Hebrews 11:1).

When we are walking in Christ Jesus the Lord we will be rooted, built up and stablished in the faith, and be thankful people.
