“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.” Colossians 4:2-4 (NKJV)
God communicates with us through His word. He has spoken to us through the Law and the Prophets, and continues to do so. He speaks to us through His Son Jesus (Hebrews 1:1-2). He also speaks to us through His creation (Romans 1:20-21). When we hear the word of the Lord we submit to Him, and believe what He says; and we pray.
Prayer is our communication with God our Creator, our Lord, and our Savior. Prayer is not us telling God what we want. Prayer is us requesting what God wants for us, others, countries, leaders, our witness, missions, and other things.
We pray with “Thanksgiving”, being grateful for His blessing, presence, power, love, mercy, grace, etc.. Prayer is not a “Wishing well” or a magical way of doing things.
We pray earnestly. We pray diligently. We pray continually, without ceasing. I really doubt though that we will ever hear “You prayed too much”.
Pray today for the Word of God to be revealed, exposed in the hearts and minds of people around the world, that Christ and His cross – His death, burial and bodily resurrection may be revealed in the hearts of many people.
