“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Colossians 2:8-9 (KJV)
The apostle addressing some issues in Colossae, and Laodicea reminds them, and it is a reminder to the Church of all ages, that Christ is our sufficiency. If we have Him we have all we need in the faith.
Even in our day there are elements of a form of Christianity that try and tell us we need more. We need “Dreams” and “Visions” and to some they are not according to the Word of God, but additions to the word of God. For some we need an extra-biblical baptism of the Spirit where we utter things which no one would understand but God.
Let us understand. We have all the Word of God that He has given us. There are no more being added to it. We do not need to speak in a language no one understands. Our greatest, most urgent need is Jesus Himself in our hearts, minds and lives. He is everything we need.
“For in Him dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” Walk in Him.
