“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.” 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 (KJV)
This letter from Paul the apostle to the Thessalonian Church was written to encourage and comfort them. They had been saved, delivered, from the wrath that sin would bring upon them; and so have all who have received and believed God through the death, burial and resurrection of the Son of God; God the Son.
The wrath coming; the wrath to come is coming on those who are tied to this world and its political system, its economic system, even its religious system; because they have rejected God, His word, His love, His mercy, His grace – all shown and displayed to the world in the cross of Jesus Christ.
We are delivered from the wrath to come. We are not appointed to wrath, but deliverance, and God knows how to deliver the godly from wrath (2 Peter 2:9).
O believe in Jesus. Call on His name, and He will save you (Romans 10:13).
