How important is the word of the LORD in your life? If it is just a book you have placed on a table for appearances, or a book you keep on the shelf; or you might take it to worship services with you – on occasion; but you rarely if ever read the pages, the words of our Lord, then the word of God is probably a reproach to you.

The word of the Lord, the Bible, Holy Scriptures, is God’s word to mankind.  It is living and powerful, and it is sharper than a two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).  Reading and hearing it will change your way of life; your way of thinking; your way of loving God, and His word.  Maybe that is why you keep it on the table?  You do not want that much of God in your life.  Hear the word of the LORD through the prophet…

“To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? Indeed their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot give heed. Behold, the word of the LORD is a reproach to them; they have no delight in it. Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD. I am weary of holding it in. “I will pour it out on the children outside, and on the assembly of young men together; for even the husband shall be taken with the wife, the aged with him who is full of days. And their houses shall be turned over to others, fields and wives together; for I will stretch out My hand against the inhabitants of the land,” says the LORD.”  Jeremiah 6:10-12 (NKJV)

Whether we like it or not we are living in a culture that is heavily against the true God, His word and way of living.  Those confessors of Christ who want to follow the culture rather than Christ will find the word of God as a reproach (a shame and disgrace) to their mind, heart, soul, and strength.  We cannot love the Lord if we are not loving Him with our mind, heart, soul and strength.

That was the culture of Jeremiah.  They had turned their backs on God; practicing their religion, their sacrifices, all their rituals, but their hearts were far from Him.

Do not let that be the intent, or content of your heart, mind, soul and strength.  Take up the word of God; your copy of the Bible and read.  If you are new at reading the Bible begin with the gospel of John in the New Testament, then read the three epistles of John, then go and begin at Matthew and read through the whole New Testament.  When you finish that read through the Bible from Genesis through the Revelation.

If you do not have a Bible let me know, and I will find a way to get you one.   Our Church address is at the bottom of this blog page, or you can email the Church at  We will get you one at no expense to you.  NOTE: This is for those who have no Bible.

Turn your heart, mind, soul and strength over to the mind of Christ.  He died for you, was buried, and rose from the grave that we all might be delivered from the condemnation, guilt and shame of sin.  Make the word of God a blessing, and love the Lord.  He loves us so much, that He stretched out His arms and died.
