And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, And I, behold, I establish My covenant with you, and with your seed after you; and with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth. Genesis 9:8-10 (KJV)
There are many verses from Genesis 1 – 9 which say, “And God said…” or something very similar as the “the LORD spoke…” and that is four times in chapter nine – a total of nine times from chapters 7 -9. I believe it would be safe to say that GOD wants us to hear what He says.
In these verses above is part of what has been called the “Noahic covenant” since it was given to Noah following the great worldwide flood. You will note that it is a covenant given to Noah, his sons, their wives, and all the creatures that came off the ark with them. This promise was the word from God that there would be seed time [planting] and harvest [reaping what had been planted] and Summer and Winter. The world will continue until God chooses to judge it again.
In the meantime He has provided for Adam kind the way of grace and salvation; and that is through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, was buried and rose again. One day He will be returning and will make things right, and there will be no more sin or evil. Call on the Son of God, God the Son who loved you so much that He died in your place. That is the greater covenant of love.
