And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. Genesis 28:16  (KJV)

Have you ever heard the phrase, maybe even heard it or used it, “This is such a god forsaken place”?  Then, since you are a Christian, and know the Scriptures a bit, you reason in your mind… “No that is false, because God is here, has always been here, and has never left”.

Jacob was just meeting the LORD for the first time, at least that we can tell, and he is awed by God’s presence and meeting with him.  Most certainly we would all be.  Jacob’s meeting with the LORD was through a heavenly dream, where he saw angels ascending and descending from and to heaven on a staircase.  In the dream, God gave him the promise which He had given to Abraham and Isaac.  Make a great nation of him, have the land, and all the earth would be blessed through him.  We have been blessed through the faith of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

You may be going through a hardship today, a heartache, an illness, disease, or just feel like that God is nowhere to be found.  You want God to be near, yet He feels so far away.  He loves you and He is as near as your calling on Him.  The LORD  is with you.  He loves you.

He loves you and me so much that He died on the cross for our sins, was buried and He rose again.  He loves us so much that He left the glory and splendors of heaven to be crucified, and suffer the rejection of His Father.

How near is God? Hear His word.  The LORD is in this place.  That “Place” can be your heart, mind, soul, and strength.
