“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,,,”  Numbers 8:23 (KJB)

The question has been, “Does God speak in today’s world?” or “How does God speak today?”, maybe even, “What modem does God use to speak to us today, or any day?”  I will try to answer those questions.  First let us address the verse from Numbers 8:23.

At least two other times in this chapter alone the phrase is used, “Then the LORD spoke to Moses saying,,,” and several times throughout the Law that phrase is used.  So we can know and believe that God has previously spoken to His people.  He has also spoken to His people through the prophets, and God does not speak to us to do contrary to any previous command.

Recently the Vice President Mike Pence said that He lived by what he heard from Jesus (not verbatim), and took some criticism from a liberal, unbelieving, hate monger of all that is right and holy and good, whose name is not worth mentioning, for his statement saying that was “Mental illness”.  Well that attack from that female individual was not just an attack against our Vice President, but an attack against all who are followers of Jesus Christ, and who believe that we not only can speak to Him, but He speaks to us as well.

Then, recently another celebrity, who will remain unnamed in this piece, said,  “I am not running in the 2020 campaign for President because God did not tell me to run”.  I will not judge her except to say this.  She does not believe the word of God when He says, “I am a jealous God…”  How could she; how can she ever expect to hear a word from God when she does not hear what He has written for us to hear?

Does God speak in today’s world?  Yes!  He speaks to us through the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms, etc.  and especially today He speaks to us through His Son Jesus (Hebrews 1:1-4).  How does God speak today?  Through the Son who bled on the cross and died for our sins, through His burial, and through His resurrection. He speaks to us through His word, the words of Jesus and the apostles.  His words are very loud and clear – read Matthew 5 – 7, and believe.

When Jesus and three of His disciples were on the Mountain of His Transfiguration Moses and Elijah had stood before Him, and after Peter had spoken to the affect of building monuments, the voice of God the Father came from Heaven saying…

“This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.”  Matthew 17:5

Does God speak?  Yes!  Very loudly and clearly through His written word and through His Son.  If you will not hear the voice of the Son of God you do not know the Father or the Son.  Jesus said…

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me… John 10:27

Hear the words of Jesus, Hear His voice, all of Scripture and live.
