Please read Judges 17 – 19 for today…

“Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man’s house where her lord was, till it was light. And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way: and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, and her hands were upon the threshold.”  Judges 19:26-27 (KJB)

It is stated at least three times in Judges that there was no king in Israel.  Chapters 19:1 and 21:25 are two of those references.  Since there was no king there was no direct human guidance for any law.  We must remember the people of Israel did have God’s law, and they had strayed in horrible fashion.

When there is no rule of law people become a a law unto themselves.  When there are no borders there are no countries, no citizens, and no citizenship.

The people of the Word of God – the Levites – of our text above; were even far from the law of God, and the Hebrew system.  Idolatry had become a part of at least one tribe, and a man of Israel named Micah who hired a Levite for his own personal priest, and over an idol at that.  Then, we have the story of a Levite with a concubine, who is a live in wife for only personal pleasures, no love, no privileges of her own.  Both of these Levites violated the law of God.  The era of the Judges of Israel is a mess, to say the least.

Is 2018 in the U. S. of A. or the world any different?  We have people who will intentionally shoot and kill, with no apparent remorse; and think that they are helping others, themselves and even aiding and being a service to God’s cause.  There are some who want no borders, and are trying to bring “Laws” which allow the use of drugs to numb our minds of moral issues, right living, and justice.  Life has been cheapened by the legalization of abortion and the murder of millions of unborn babies; while our pets are being examples of decency and comfort and hope.  People on the other hand lay with their hands on our thresholds with no say, hope, or help.

Let us who know Jesus Christ get back to our pure worship of Christ our God and King, believing His word, turning from our sin, and being witnesses for Him.

Sounds bleak does it not?  Life has hope.  That hope comes from God and His Son Jesus who bled and died on the cross, became sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21), was buried, and He rose again.  One day the Man Jesus will return as the King, and will rule on this earth, and all will be right.  Believe, call on His name, and be saved.

(See 1 Timothy 4:1-5;  2 Timothy 3:1-9).
