Join me in reading 2 Kings 9 – 10…

“Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the LORD hath done that which He spake by His servant Elijah.” 2 Kings 10:10 (KJB)

These words spoken by Jehu are following his carrying out the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah (1 Kings 21:19-27).  It would seem by reading the previous verses that he was zealous for the LORD, but that would not be a true.  Jehu’s purposes seem to be far different from the LORD’S purposes for carrying out these things.

Of all the kings of the northern kingdom of Israel it was said by God, that “they did not do right in the eyes of the LORD”; except for Jehu.  Yet we are told in the tenth chapter, “But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart; for he did not depart from the sins of Jereboam, who had made Israel sin.” 1 Kings 10:31 (NKJV).

One conclusion I reach here is that GOD many times, and many ways uses unrighteous and unholy people to accomplish His word, His will, and His purposes in this world.  Not one word of God will fall to the ground unaccomplished, unfulfilled, and will be fulfilled with power and glory.

It is such a wonderful thing to know the GOD who has made all things, holds it all in His hands, and superintends its outcome.  Glory to God Most High.  He is holy, righteous, and undefiled.  Know Him through His Son Jesus who took our sins upon Himself, suffered the penalty, judgment, and wrath of God for our sins on that old cross, was buried, and rose again.  That is how much He loves you.  He will accomplish His work in you too (Philippians 1;6).
