A Warning to Rabble-Rousers and Trouble Makers

Please read Ezra 4 – 6…

King Cyrus had given a decree for the Jewish people to return to their land, to Jerusalem, and to rebuild the temple.  Ezra was the man leading the building of the temple.  Many  of the people who were in the land tried to dissuade, and discourage them in the building of it, failed in their attempt so got an edict from one king which followed Cyrus, to stop the building of it.

Along comes the prophet Haggai, and Zerubbabel the priest, and they get the building of the temple going again.  More rabble.  They sent a letter to the King Darius with all kinds of accusations.  Darius checks the records, and finds that what the Jews say is true.  They did have an edict from King Cyrus for rebuilding the temple, and it was to be at the expense of the King”s taxes.

Here is the ending of the King’s answer to the Rabble-rousers:

“Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this. And the God that hath caused His name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.”  Ezra 6:11-12 (KJB)

My thought on that is:  Don’t mess with God’s people when they are walking with God and in His will.  You will get hurt.  Not by our hand, but by the hand of God.

The walk with God is open to all who will call on the name of Jesus Christ God’s Son, and believe that He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and He rose from the grave forever living.
