“Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee. Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.” Proverbs 3:27-29 (KJB)
The Golden Rule says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” The words of Jesus are, “And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” Luke 6:31 Which is the grounds of the Golden Rule.
The writer of Proverbs also was teaching the same actions.
Some things to consider in doing good to your neighbor:
- Do not withhold good from them to whom it is due;
- When you have the means to help;
- Do not just leave vain and empty words, but act on their need;
- Never for any cause make evil plans against your neighbor; instead plan good things.
Remember who your neighbor is. He or she is not just the people next door, but the people in the car beside you at the red light; the one in front of you at the check out line, or the theme park line. Also the people in the next State, or the next country over.
Please read Luke 10:30-37 also.
