Most of us can identify hate and hatred. There are people however who try to convince us that they are really loving, yet they have no fruits of love. These are the ones the wise man has written a few words of in Proverbs…
“He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; when he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.” Proverbs 26:24-25 (KJB)
Haters try and use their lips; their words; to try and convince those they are around that they have their best interest at heart while they pretentiously exaggerate their opponent or enemy’s position on things. When I see that “seven abominations in his heart” I think of Proverbs 6:16-19. I do not know if that is what the wise one is referring to, but it ought to be considered.
Let us be clear about hatred and hate. It is not of God, neither is it from God; it is in truth from the pit of Hell. It is from the father of lies and liars. It comes from the same place as the heart of a gossiper, or talebearer who seeks to divide friends, families, and neighbors.
The following is a different translation of the above verses…
“Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart; when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart…” Proverbs 26:24-25 (ESV)
Let us who are followers of Jesus Christ allow no hatred in our hearts. Let us live so as not to deceive, but live to love one another as we have been given commandment to do so (John 13:34, 35; 15:12, 17).
There is so much, too much hatred in the world. Let Christ and His Church show for the love of Christ. In His love He laid down His life on a cruel old cross and died for us. Yes! We must stand for His truth, His word, His cross, take up our own cross, and follow Him with love for those who are the pitiful, passing parade of the perishing.
O God, our Lord and Savior deliver us into Your love.
