Sin is not just personal. It is not just something you do against yourself. Sin; yes, even our own “Private”, “Personal” sin hurts others. Those closest to you; your family, friends, your fellow workers at your place of employment. Even more and worse my sin and yours offends God.
Hear God speaking through the prophet Ezekiel…
“Moreover this they have done unto Me: they have defiled My sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned My Sabbaths.” Ezekiel 23:38 (KJB)
God is holy. He is also righteous and just. He will not leave sin without judgment. Just ask the people of Israel and Judah. Because they had committed adultery against the LORD of hosts, the Lord GOD, forsaken Him, defiled the Temple, and the Sabbaths they went into captivity in Babylon that they might be purified by fire.
It is a wonderful thing to know that Jesus Christ has paid the price for all our sins on the cross. Through Him we are delivered from the eternal punishment of Hell. We ought never think, though, as Christians that we can escape the consequences of our sinful acts.
We are God’s. We have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20 & 7:23). The life of Jesus Christ God’s only Son was the price that was paid. He was buried carrying all our sins away. He arose bodily from the grave without sin and living eternally. Because of Him we too have eternal life. We too will be without sin.
