The following is the sermon Outline for Sunday Morning October 28, 2018…

Revelation 1:12-17 –  The Great Voice

On the Lord’s day John heard a “Great voice” behind him, the voice, “as of a trumpet” (Rev. 1:10); yet, he did not hide himself as did Adam and Eve when they heard this Great Voice in the garden (Genesis 3:8) after they had ate the forbidden fruit in the garden.
Because of John’s being redeemed by the cross of Jesus, his sins carried away as far as east is from west and leaving them cast away, then Jesus rising from the dead; he stayed to listen and see Who was speaking to him.
Also because he turned to see (Rev. 1:12) the Person of this voice he gets to see him, and gives us a description of our risen Lord and Savior.

I. A VOICE THAT WILL GET YOUR ATTENTION (v. 10).

II. THE VOICE IS STANDING IN THE MIDST OF SEVEN LAMPSTANDS (vv. 12-13).
A. They are golden; so they are precious and valuable.
B. We later learn that the seven lampstands (candlesticks) are the seven churches He is addressing (Rev. 1:20).

III. THE PERSON OF THE VOICE IS CLOTHED WITH THE GARMENT THAT DECLARES HIM AS PROPHET, PRIEST, AND KING (v. 13)
A. The golden girdle declares His Deity.
B. He is the fulfillment of all prophecy – the Prophet.
C. He is the priest with a continuing priesthood – the Priests by a continual life (Heb. 7:23-28).
D. He is the King because He has been given the rule through His Redemption of His creation and the decree of His Father (Ps. 2:6-12; 110:1-7).

IV. HIS HEAD, HIS EYES, HIS FEET, AND HIS VOICE (vv. 14-15).
A. His white hair speaks of His purity.
B. His fiery eyes speak of His vision and scrutiny.
C. His brazen feet of judgment.
D. His roaring voice speaks of His Majesty and Authority.

V. THOSE HE HOLDS IN HIS HANDS (vv. 16-17).
A. The “right hand” is used a picture of position, and authority.
B. In His right hand John sees seven stars.
C. These seven stars are seven pastors of the seven churches (see verse 20).
