A PEOPLE WHO ARE HURTING

Joel 1:1-20

The question has been asked again and again; “Is cataclysmic weather, earthquakes, firestorms, and other acts of “nature” God’s judgment on wickedness? Joel sees drought, locusts, and such as God’s judgment on God’s people; so the other is true just as well.

Christians of 2020 must come back to Scripture, believing what God says; not the meteorologists, and science falsely so called.

The apostle Peter wrote,

“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God” and continuing in that thought says, “and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of Go?” 1 Peter 4:17  Also see Ezekiel 9:6

Outline of Joel 1 – 3 –

1. A People who are Hurting (chapter 1).
2. A Promise that is Haunting (chapter 2).
3. A Power that is Holy (chapter 3).

Three needs of the people;

I. THEY NEED TO WAKE UP TO THEIR EVIL (vv. 1-7);

II. THEY NEED TO LAMENT/MOURN THEIR DEPARTURE FROM GOD (vv. 8-13);

III. THEY NEED TO SANCTIFY (set apart) A FAST TO CALL ON THE LORD (vv. 14-20).

And here is why…

IV. THE DAY OF THE LORD IS AT HAND (v. 15).
