The Great Determination

I will praise Thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all Thy marvellous works.  I will be glad and rejoice in Thee: I will sing praise to Thy name, O Thou Most High.
When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at Thy presence.  For Thou hast maintained my right and my cause; Thou satest in the throne judging right.  Thou hast rebuked the heathen, Thou hast destroyed the wicked, Thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.  Psalm 9:1-5

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.  And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.  And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.  1 Corinthians 2:1-5
