What The Christian Can Learn From Lot
2 Peter 2:7-9
1. Lot was a man of choices, and some of them were wrong choices.
2. Lot was a man with ambition and drive.
3. Lot was a “just man” – meaning he was righteous – declared so by God’s own word.
I. LOT WAS A DELIVERED MAN – DELIVERED FROM A WICKED CITY’S DESTRUCTION (v. 7)
II. LOT WAS TORMENTED BY THE EVIL OF HIS CITY (v. 8).
III. LOT IS DECLARED JUST BY GOD, HIS WORD AND THE CROSS OR OUR LORD – SO IS THE SINNER OF TODAY WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF JESUS (v. 9)
Application –
i. We live in a wicked, sin soaked world, headed for doom; are we vexed, tormented, tired down with the toil of it as was Lot?
ii. Have we become so much a part of our city, community or world that we just blend in with them?
iii. Justness – Righteousness is a decree made only by God, His Word and the Cross of Jesus Christ. Have you been declared “Just” by God?
