Sermon Points 120510

The Beginning and The Ending

Revelation 1:8

1.  Since Jesus is the beginning that is where we must begin
2.  Since Jesus is the ending, then, that is where all things have their finality.
3.  Jesus Christ is the past, present, and the future for all.
4.  Jesus Christ; Son of the Living God; is the Almighty; and worthy of praise.

I.  JESUS CHRIST, HIMSELF STATES THAT HE IS THE BEGINNING (Gen. 1:1; John 1:1).

II.  HE ALSO SAYS THAT HE IS THE ENDING (1:8, 11;  21:6;  22:13).

III.  WITH THE SON OF GOD TIME DOES NOT CONTROL HIM; HE IS, HE WAS, AND HE WILL BE COMING AGAIN.

IV.  HE IS THE “MIGHTY GOD” (Isaiah 9:6), “PRINCE OF PEACE” AND “WONDERFUL COUNSELOR”.

Application –

i.  Since Jesus Christ is the beginning of all things, the source of all things, the power and sustenance of all things then surely we can trust Him with salvation, faith, life, death and eternal life.
ii.  Since He is the ending of all things and He is eternal then we can trust Him for who He is and not for what He gives us; even when it seems “all may be lost” in our thoughts and minds.
iii.  We can rest, be at peace, and assured that when He reigns now and in eternity that all will be well.
