Saul of Tarsus was a Pharisee within Judaism. He hated Christ and Christianity; and did all that was in his power to exterminate what he considered to be a heretic bunch of deceived people.
From the moment of Stephen’s martyr’s death by stoning (Acts 7:54-60), Saul was determined to exterminate this group of people. However, as he was on the road to Damascus to carry out a warrant for the arrest of the Christians in Damascus, he met the Lord Jesus Christ, and became a follower of Christ himself. While he is still in Damascus we read of him;
“And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.” Acts 9:19-20 (KJV)
When he came to faith in Christ Jesus he is now fully convinced that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and though it does not say it here; he believed that Jesus is God the Son. When you believe the one; you will come to no other conclusion than that if He is the Son of God, He is also God the Son.
When He changes your heart and mind things begin to happen, and in verse 31 of chapter 9 we find that the Church began to multiply. People came to faith in Jesus. People’s lives were changed and grew from “faith to faith” (Romans 1:17).
Believe today that Jesus is the Christ who died, was buried and rose again from death; that He is the Son of God, and God the Son.
