“But fear not thou, O My servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid. Fear thou not, O Jacob My servant, saith the LORD: for I am with thee; for I will make a full end of all the nations whither I have driven thee: but I will not make a full end of thee, but correct thee in measure; yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished.” Jeremiah 46:27-28 (KJV)
When the LORD spoke these words to the people of Judah they were in Egypt following their disobedience in going there thinking they could escape Nebuchadnezzar, and his army.
As Christians we must know today that there is still no escape from our sin when there is no repentance. Someone still pays the price. We do. Yes! There is forgiveness for sin for the Christian, but only when there is confession and repentance (1 John 1:9).
We often make decisions based on “Fear”. We can, however, trust the LORD, walk with Him – that is believing His Word, staying where He tells us to stay, doing what He tells us to do… – and then, there is no need for fear.
When we fear only GOD; there is nothing else to fear. “Be not afraid” is only practiced when we are walking with GOD through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ.
