Open Your Mouth and Eat

And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions; do not be afraid of their words or dismayed by their looks, though they are a rebellious house. You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious. But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.” Ezekiel 2:6-8 (NKJV)

Ezekiel is a prophet of God who is captive in the foreign land of Babylon; Nebuchadnezzar is the king, and yet the people of God held captive there are called stubborn, rebellious, hardheaded, people.

In that foreign land GOD calls Ezekiel ‘son of man’ a term of endearment, because he loves God, and God has a special place for him.

As Christians in today’s world, we too are in a foreign land, which is no longer favorable toward Biblical Christianity, nor our GOD and Savior.  Yet, we are called to be the light in a dark world.

If we are going to be the light, then we cannot be like those who live in rebellion against God or His Word.  We are to be faithful to Him in all things.

Let your food be the Word of God.  Eat it through reading and study.  Let it fill your heart, mind and soul; and let it be your strength which leads you into prayer, and living.
