“God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserveth wrath for His enemies. The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked…” Nahum 1:2-3a (KJV)
Some people get angry over the concept of a jealous God. However, the One who has made all things, and sustains all things, and sent His Son to die for our sins is a Jealous God.
He is angry with the wicked everyday (Psalm 7:11). It says above that He will not “at all acquit the wicked”. There is no peace for the wicked says the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 48:22; 57:21).
The LORD God is angry with those who oppose Him, do not believe Him, and abuse, and misuse His people. You do not want to be the enemy of God.
We were all the enemies of God, but even while we were His enemies He sent His Son to die for our sins, become the payment for our redemption, and redeem us to Himself (Romans 5:8). The unrepentant, unbelieving sinner is still the enemy of God, yet He loves you, and calls you to His Son Jesus Christ.
