These post are about GOD; His love, and yes His hate. Maybe it would be nicer to say, His wrath. His wrath is what He pours out on what He hates. For His children He hates any sin that is in us. He hates my sin. He hates your sin. He is working in me to get me to the place I hate my sin just as much as He does; and He will do what ever it takes to get me that way.
Saying the above we must never forget His exceeding marvelous mercy, grace, and patience with us. I am refusing to use the word L-O-V-E due to its overuse in today’s Christian culture. Its abuse even. God is love (1 John 4:16) definitely; but we need to know what that means… And it does not mean loose living apart from God’s word.
God has guided us by His Spirit to love Him with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength, and we do that through the word of God entering our heart and mind through devouring it. Hear the word of Jeremiah the prophet…
“O LORD, Thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; take me not away in Thy longsuffering: know that for Thy sake I have suffered rebuke. Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by Thy name, O LORD God of hosts. I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of Thy hand: for Thou hast filled me with indignation. Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? Wilt Thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail?” Jeremiah 15:15-18 (KJV)
The above is the prophet’s discourse or prayer with the LORD. Jeremiah is pained by the persecution he has experienced; especially from his own family, and some who were close previous to his visible calling to the ministry of prophet. His ministry was not to “Win friends, and influence people”. It was to be faithful to the LORD, and His word.
“Thy words were found, and I did eat them”
does not mean that he ate them in his mouth, but that he read them with a voracious appetite, and desired more of them. When a child of God gets into the reading and study of God’s word we want more. We want more of God. We want more of His Spirit. We want more of His mercy, more of His compassion, more of His grace; and we do as the Psalmist said…
“Your word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” Psalm 119:11 And,,,
“How shall a your man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Thy word.” 119:9
Christian you cannot continue in a path of sin and destruction, and believe you are right with God. The genuine love of God will fall on you through the magnificent wrath of God on sin in your life. You will pay the consequences of your sin.
He loved us all enough to send His only Son Jesus to die in our place. Their are still consequences for our sin. Trusting the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation does not give us a license to sin; it does give us freedom from sins bondage, and death; and power through the Holy Spirit to live for Him and His glory.
