And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the Most Holy. And thou shalt put the mercy seat upon the ark of the Testimony in the Most Holy place. Exodus 26:33-34 (KJV)
Due to the sin of Adam and Eve their kind; you and me; are born separated from God. He is the Most Holy. There is no place like the place of God’s presence. In the presence of God is fullness of joy. In His presence there is peace such as unlike anything we have experienced (Romans 5:1; Philippians 4:6-7).
This Tabernacle in the wilderness is a good example of the difficulty of humanity – Adamkind – of ever reaching God, and His presence by our own works or merit. God intends it to be shown that way. You and I can never be good enough to get into the presence of Holy GOD. Adamkind can be good to one another one minute, then, in the next stick a knife in the back of a dear brother or friend.
We are separated from God. The only way to overcome that separation is the way GOD prescribes for us. The internal part of this holy tent is made up of two departments; the holy place where the table of bread in on the south side, and the menorah is on the north side, and the golden incense altar is just outside the veil. Inside the veil is the mercy seat, and it sits upon the ark of the covenant. The mercy seat is made of pure gold, and the ark is made of acacia wood overlaid with pure gold. The holy pieces of the Most Holy, as are all the other furnishings, are types of Jesus Christ. The gold is a picture of His Deity. The wood of His humanity; as the Son of Man.
If you were to get an overhead view of the interior of the tent you would see that they holy furnishings are in the order of the cross.
How does one come into the presence of Most Holy GOD? By way of the cross of Jesus Christ. There is no other way. No other way to life. No other way to peace. No other way to the fullness of joy.
God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross, fulfilling the demands of the law, He was buried, then He rose from the grave. The Most Holy GOD loves us that much.
