“I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.”  Numbers 15:41 (KJB)

In this sentence is a statement from God Himself of who He is.  As He speaks to Moses in the books of the Law the word is still true for people of 2018.  He is God.  He is all there is.  He is the Father, the Son, and the Spirit who is Holy.

In chapter 14 we had the multitude rebel against the verdicts of Caleb and Joshua that they could enter the land of Promise, and chose the words of ten men who were fearful, and doubted God’s power.  In verses 32 – 36 of chapter 15, preceding these words there is an event which many in today’s world find harsh, hateful, and causes them to cry out against God, and despise Him.

That event is of a man who went out on the Sabbath day and picked up sticks for a fire.  If you will remember the fourth Commandment is “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy” (see Exodus 20:8-11).  They were commanded to work the previous six days, prepare for the Sabbath, and this man had not taken God seriously, but rejected what God said, and then was stoned to death because of his arrogance, and disobedience toward God.

To end the 15th chapter God makes this definitive statement, “I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.”  Why to I share that verse again?  It needs to get into the minds of today’s Christian that the LORD (Jehovah) is the only God there is.  There is no other.  We are not god; neither can we be, neither will we ever be god.

We were bought with a price by God. We were bought with the precious blood of Jesus who was perfect and without sin by His death on the cross, His burial, and confirmed and solidified by the resurrection of Jesus from the grave.

O, hear the word of God.  He is true.  His word is true.  He will do whatever it takes to make His children like Himself.
