“Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.” Deuteronomy 4:2 (KJB)
God, nor His word ever changes. The One who spoke the Universe into existence is the One who speaks to His people the words of the Bible. They are forever and they are sure (Matthew 24:35).
Before Moses died God gave him the opportunity to look into the land of Promise and see its beauty and richness. When he comes down from Pisgah (Deut. 3:26-28) he reminds the people of their responsibilities to hear the word of God, keep the word of God, and do the word of God.
The Word of God – His commandments – are and is sacred. There are none like what God has said.
There is not to be anything added to His Word neither is there anything to be taken away from it.
Occasionally in Scripture we read of someone twisting the word to fit their own idea or narrative to life. The case I am thinking of is when the devil is tempting Jesus and using Scripture to do so (Matthew 4:1-11). When we twist Scripture, the word of God, to fit our own thoughts and ideas and heart we practice the work of evil and the works of the father of evil.
Let us hear the word of God, keep it in our hearts and minds, then do it. Begin by trusting God’s only means of salvation: the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. You cannot get to God in your own feeble way.
The word of God never changes; neither does God.
