“The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29 (KJB)
It has been said that “I do not have as much trouble with the parts of the Bible that I do not understand as I do with the parts that I do.” I think that was spoken – or something similar – by Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain).
If we Christians would spend more time doing what we know to be true in Scripture, rather than trying to figure out the complexities of the Hebrew Law, or why or how God could love us so much; or how the sovereignty of God and the free will of man can work together to accomplish the plan and will of God; or if they do; and instead we would practice the things we know… Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and loving our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40). When we start living out what we know then the world might see what we believe, and join with us believing it.
Then we would also “Do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God” (Micah 6:8).
The “Secret things” do belong to God. Let us leave them with Him until He reveals them to us; trusting Him with them. It will begin by coming to Jesus Christ in faith. Believing that He died for our sins, was buried, and He rose again. It is His finished work of redemption. Call on His name, receive and believe.
