The Learned, Hearing Servant

My daily reading was Isaiah 46 – 50.  I pray some are following along.

“The Lord GOD hath given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: He wakeneth morning by morning, He wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not My face from shame and spitting.”  Isaiah 50:4-6  (KJV)

The above verses, and all of chapter 50 are Messianic; meaning they foretell the work of Jesus Christ coming to earth as a man.  He would be, was and is the Servant of God as a Man.  He stepped out of glory to become flesh – Immanuel – and to dwell among us.

He subjected Himself to the cruelties of humanity, was beaten with a cat-o-nine tails, was smitten in the face by the hands of sinful men, spit upon; despised and rejected.

Jesus Christ Son of God, God the Son; yet He loved us and went to the cross  in our place.  He died for our sins, was buried, and He rose again showing, proving that He was and is everything He claimed.

O, come to Him today.  Call on His name with repentant heart, and grief over your sin, and He will hear you and save you.
