Glory, Wisdom, and Might

There is much pride and arrogance in our world today.  So much so that many in their pride exalt themselves over others, and especially over God Himself.  We can often live as though we know what is best for our lives; better than God knows.  We hear it in questions: “Why does God allow that to happen?”, or “If I were God…”.  You get the idea.  Are we really that arrogant?

Hear the words of God through the prophet Jeremiah…

“Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.” Jeremiah 9:23-24  (KJB)

There is only one True and Living God; not 7 billion plus; who has made all that is and holds it together by His wisdom and power.

The person, the man or woman who is wise will rest in this One who is over all.  They will also live for the One who has died to redeem His own unto Himself through the death; the cross, the burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ His Son.

The mighty man or woman will know and realize that their strength and power is from God.  He gives power, strength, and wisdom at His discretion.  What God gives in blessing He can and will sometimes take it away.  We cannot trust in His blessings, we must trust in the Blesser Himself.

The wise man or woman, the mighty  man or woman is one who truly is resting and trusting in the One who gives the wisdom and the might.
