The message of John the Baptist was one calling for repentance. You can read a portion of John’s message in chapter 3 verses 7 through 12. Repentance. Repentance is a turning around. When one realizes they are going in the wrong direction.
I hear people talk of there being many roads to god and heaven. There is only one road; and two destinations. One direction leads away from God, and to hell; the other direction is a direct line to God and His glory.
What was the message of Jesus?
“From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17 (KJV)
John had been arrested and put into prison for confronting the immorality of Herod, and his brother’s wife (Matthew 14:3-8). Now was the time for the ministry of Jesus to begin, and He begins with repentance as well.
When Jesus speaks of “The kingdom of heaven is at hand” we need to realize the kingdom is the Person and Presence of Jesus Himself.
How near is the kingdom of heaven in 2015? As near as Jesus is to you. If you know Him, and are known by Him (John 10:27); you are in the kingdom.
If not you need to repent. You need to turn around. You are going the wrong direction. Turn around. Turn around into the presence, the power and the glory of God.
