Reading for January 24, 2018: Exodus 14 – 16
Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore. And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and His servant Moses. Exodus 14:30-31 (KJV)
The 600,000 men, plus women and children of Israel had walked across the seabed on dry land. It was the power of God. God, YaHWeH was and is their Deliverer. He led them out of Egypt with much of the wealth, silver, gold, and precious jewels of Egypt. They were witnesses of His power. Then, Moses did as God commanded and raised his staff over the dry seabed, and GOD brought the sea crashing down upon the Egyptian riders, the horses, chariots, and not one remained. They witnessed the bodies of slain Egyptians laying on the shore.
We do not rejoice over the death of men. We rejoice in the power of Almighty GOD. He is victorious.
If you are a follower, a believer, born again through the shed blood of Jesus; you have been and daily are a witness of the mighty power of God. For, you are changed. You have put on the new and put off the old. Old things have passed away, and all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
You, we have seen God’s power working in the lives of others. We see Him moving in and throughout the world in events which are beyond our human comprehension.
In the cross of Jesus we witness a sinless man die for our sins, then He was buried, and then, beyond our understanding He is raised to life again. He can never die again. He is alive forever more. Through this act of grace we can look to Him and live eternally with Him.
You and I in Christ Jesus are witnesses of the power of God. We are witnesses of His resurrection. In the past, today, and everyday keep an eye out for what God is doing in yourself, in others and throughout the world.
