Please read 2 Samuel 20 – 21…
…And they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God was intreated for the land. 2 Samuel 21:14 b
“So they performed all that the king commanded. And after that God heeded the prayer for the land.” 2 Samuel 21:14 b (NKJV)
The events preceding the above text are only one of the many things that can hinder answered prayer. This is the one we will look at today. You may read the text to get the idea of the cause here.
The unconfessed, unrepented sins of the past can cause hindrances to our prayer being answered. As in David’s and the people of Israel it was a broken covenant with the Gibeonite people.
When the wrong was made right, God answered the prayer.
As Christians we need to be sure that sins of our past have been confessed, repented of, and we have sought the forgiveness of God and any persons offended made right.
As the case of our text was a National one; it is also true of governments. The following is a quote from the Geneva Bible…
“For where the government permits faults to go unpunished, there the plague of God lies on the land.” Geneva Bible e-Sword
Let us as Christians so live as to hear God, and the He will forgive us our sins, and heal our land.
